Bittersweet...The Green Bay Packers beat the San Francisco 49ers by the score of 30-24 at Lambeau Field to move to 6-4 on the season, but lost 2 key players for the remainder of the season. The win kept the Packers in pace for a NFC Wild Card berth with 6 games remaining in the season. The Packers Offense piled up 484 yards of total offense and built a 30-10 lead early in the 4th Q, which proved to be enough to win the game. However, the Packers suffered to costly season-ending injuries to CB Al Harris and LB Aaron Kampman. Losing both Harris and Kampman are devastating to the Packers Defense. The loss of LB Aaron Kampman does not hurt as much as the Packers have plenty of capable LB to step in and replace his role in Dom Caper's 3-4 Defense. They have rotating players in all year. If they lose anything in Kampman they will lose his pass ruch off the edge in an alignment that Dom Capers has allowed more snaps over the past few weeks. The loss of CB Al Harris hurts the Packers. CB Tramon Williams who will more than likely replace him has played well this year in the Dime or Nickel package on 3rd downs. However, CB Jarret Bush who has struggled at times now becomes the 6th defensive back. He needs to step up, make plays, and avoid getting picked on by opposing offenses. With that aside the win was big and they needed it. Next, the Green Bay Packers(6-4) face the Detroit Lions(2-8) on Thanksgiving Day. The Lions are coming off a last-second win over the Clevelnad Browns at home in which Rookie QB Matthew Stafford threw 5 TD passes. The Lions have a way of playing well on Turkey Day as it is a tradition in Detroit, but the Packers should and need to win this game to keep pace for the NFC Wild Card. They can not afford to lose as they still have games remaining against the Bears, Steelers, Ravens, and Cardinals. Thanksgiving and football go hand-in-hand and it is great that I will be able to watch the Green n' Gold Thursday with the entire Manville Family as I am going home to Madison, WI for the holiday. Food, beer, Packers, SCAT, and family. What more could you ask for? Wait.........snow? 1-3 inches expected in Madison on Thanksgiving. Awesome. GO PACK GO!!!
