The 2010 National Football League Regular Season Schedule was released yesterday. The Green Bay Packers open up their 92nd year of professional football and 2010 Regular Season campaign on the road at the Philadelphia Eagles which will be Nationally broadcasted as FOX's late game staring at 4:15 ET. The Packers schedule ranks 22nd in the league as their opponent win percentage from 2009 is .488. The schedule also features 6 playoff teams from a year agao and all teams from the tough NFC East Division. In all, the Packers schedule includes 6 "Primetime" games. A Monday Night Football matchup where they visit the Chicago Bears in week 3 and also 3 appearances on NBC's Sunday Night Fotball headline the schedule where they host the Minnesota Vikings in week 7 and the Dallas Cowboys in week 9. Lastly, the Packers will travel and play the New England Patriots in week 15 for their last NBC SNF appearance. This marks the 18th consecutive season in which the Packers have made an apearance on MNF, the longest streak of any NFC team. At first glance, the early part of the schedule seems very favorble to the Packers. We all know that it is very crucial to get off to a fast start in the NFL. If you drop a few games below .500 early in the season you may never recover. Through the first six games of the regular season, I see at worst the Packers starting the season with a record of 4-2. All 3 of these games at home in Lambeau Field will be against non-playoff teams from last year(Buffalo, Detroit, Miami) and the Packers will be favored in each. The three road games will be tough though. However, the Eagles will be with an inexperienced QB now that Donavan McNabb is in Washington, the Bears provide the best rivalry in the NFL, and the Redskins will be no either task either as they will be much improved from last year. The last 3 games heading into the Bye week are against all playoff teams from once year ago(Minnesota, New York Jets, Dallas). The Packers Bye week falling in week 10 marks the latest in franchise history. You never want to see the Bye week come too early, but this may be to late as well, as the Packers play 9 games before the Bye week and only 7 after. Injuries are a factor for every team in the NFL over the course of the season and the Bye week plays a vital part in the process.Coming off the Bye week, the Packers play 4 of their 5 games on the road. This may be the part of the season that makes or breaks them. It is worth noting that three of these games will be played in a dome. This will also help the Packers as their dangerous passing game will be on full display. The Packers then come home to finish the season with back-to-back games at Lambeau Field. This is favorable as no other team in the NFL has a better win percentage at home since 1992. Early prediction: I see the Packers going 10-6. NFL Draft is tomorow as the Packers have the 23rd overall pick in the 1st round. GO PACK GO!!!
