My fantasy football draft was the other night. After taking in consideration that there are 12 total teams in the FFL I am in, I think I came out solid at each position. I was able to select QB Aaron Rodgers, who I believe after one season under center as the starter will look to solidify himself among the elite quarterbacks of the NFL. RB Steven Jackson will also put a lot of numbers. After missing 4 games last year due to injury, Jackson will get the bulk of carries and be the offensive workhorse for a bad St. Louis Rams team. At WR I like my starters as well. Anquan Boldin and Donald Driver were both 1,000 yard receivers on their respective teams last year. What I like most about them is that they are both the #2 receivers on their team as more attention and coverage responsibility will go to Larry Fitzgerald and Greg Jennings which will present more opportunities for Boldin and Driver to make plays against man coverage. In the league I am playing in you also get the option to start either a third RB/WR. LenDale White lacks the number of rushing attempts but in goal line situations he comes in as the power back to finish the drive and punch it in the endzone, which is evident in his scoring production last year. I also like my selection at TE with Jermichael Finley. I believe the second year player will be one of the biggest surprises this year. His size and athleticism create a mismatch in coverage at the second level. He has looked great through training camp and so far through preseason and will emerge as the Packers top TE by the end of the season. I selected Mason Crosby at PK. He most recently hit the crossbar while attempting a 60-yard FG in the preseason. He has great range and accuracy. Lastly, I picked the Green Bay Packers Defense and Special Teams unit. I like the Packer’s change to the 3-4 defensive scheme. I believe that they have the right personnel to fit the scheme. The Packers lead the NFL last year in defensive touchdowns and should have no problem forcing turnovers as the Packer’s secondary is among the best in the league with shutdown corners Al Harris and Charles Woodson. Will Blackmon is also a good return threat as well. Overall, I also like my reserves. Felix Jones at RB will get more touches and become more involved in the Cowboy’s offense. Roy Williams at WR is a good selection. Now that Terrell Owens is no longer on the Cowboy’s roster, Roy Williams will emerge as Tony Romo’s favorite target. There was good reason as to why the Cowboy’s traded for him last year foreseeing that Terrell Owens would be released. I also drafted two rookies at the WR position. Jeremy Maclin and Brian Robiskie both have the talent to contribute and be able to fill in during a bye week for any of my starters. Below is a list of my FFL team with their 2008-2009 regular season statistics in parenthesis.
Starters:
QB- Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, (341/536 4,038 yards 28 TD 13 INT; 56 rushes 207 yards 4 TD)

I like your backups. Could of diversified more though. What if there is a massive snow storm in Green Bay? I dont think passing with be atop the to-do list. White and Jackson should carry well in the RedZone this year.

Snow? It never snows in GB. Aaron Rodgers will be fine. He was only 1 of 6 QB's to pass for over 4,000 yards last yr playing 8 games in the "Frozen Tundra" conditions. However, this year is the first time in history that a MNF game will be played in Lambeau in themonth of December. That is going to be cold.
