The #1 seeded Wisconsin Badgers(25-10-4) will face the #4 seeded Vermont Catamounts in the 1st round of the 2010 NCAA Hockey Tournament. This game begins their journey to their 7th National Championship. If the Badgers win, they will face the winner of #2 St. Cloud State University/#3 Northern Michigan University. In my opinion, the West region is the Badger's to lose. They are favored and should be favored to go onto the Frozen Four in Detroit, Michigan. No other team in this pool has as much talent as the Badgers. The Badgers can put out 4 very talented lines that can produce goals. Not a lot of other teams can do that with the exceptions of Denver, North Dakota, BC, and Miami(OH). Hell, Wisconsin has to two Hobey Baker Award Finalists in Blake Geoffrion and Brendan Smith. They need to come out hard and keep the pressure on. They need to understand that this tournament is one and done. If they come out flat and run into a hot goaltender then you could go home. They need to attack and keep the puck in front of them. Also, take advantage of ever Power Play opportunity and make the opponent pay. Vice versa do not take any stupid penalties. A second-round possible matchup with WCHA rival SCSU could be tough. Both teams are familiar w/ each other. SCSU Goaltender Mike Lee can carry them as seen last week in the conference tournament. The Badgers lost the game 2-0 after coming out flat and not applying pressure early. Hopefully they learned their lesson as every game from now on needs to be treated as a "Game 7". GO BADGERS AND LET'S GET TO THE FROZEN FOUR!!!!
